Stations End the Year with Significant Double-Listening Growth Across Major U.S. Markets
NEW YORK – JANUARY 4, 2017 – Univision’s radio stations rounded out 2016 as the most-listened to radio group among Hispanics in the PPM markets where it operates, beating iHeart Radio, CBS Radio and SBS. The strong ratings performance in leading markets across the country was driven by overall listening growth of +13 percent compared to the prior year and double-digit gains among Total Adults 18-49 across multiple PPM markets.
The markets that saw double-digit year-over-year audience growth included: Los Angeles +26 percent, Phoenix +25 percent, New York +10 percent, San Francisco +16 percent, Dallas +27 percent, Las Vegas +13 percent and San Diego +36 percent.

Univision ranked among the Top 5 radio stations, regardless of language in a total of eight major markets including: Los Angeles (No. 3), Miami (No. 3), Houston (No. 1), Dallas (No. 2), San Antonio (No. 4), Phoenix (No. 4), San Diego (No. 5) and Las Vegas (No. 5).
Also, Univision’s morning shows and local personalities continued their winning streak through the end of 2016, closing this last quarter as the highest ranked at No. 1 or No. 2 among Total Adults 18-49, regardless of language, ahead of top English-language competitors in several major markets:
“El Show de Omar y Argelia” ranked No. 1 in Los Angeles, regardless of language, outperforming all other morning shows including major English-language competitor “On Air with Ryan Seacrest.”
“El Bueno, La Mala, y El Feo” ranked among the top 3, regardless of language, with total audiences in 8 of the 11 PPM markets where it airs:
- 1 in Houston (middays) and Las Vegas
- 2 in Chicago, Dallas, San Francisco and San Diego
- 3 in Los Angeles and Phoenix
“El Show de Raul Brindis” is No. 1 in Houston, regardless of language, remaining a market leader for over a decade.
“Karen La Coqueta” continues to be No. 1 in Dallas, regardless of language, through the second half of 2016 for 6 consecutive months.
“Valeria La Chiquita & El Primo Rafa” end this last quarter as No. 1 in Chicago, regardless of language, while also ranking as the No. 1 Spanish-language show throughout the whole year.
“El Desayuno con Javier Romero” ranks No. 2 in Miami, regardless of language, with +28 percent growth compared to the prior year.
Additional Highlights:
- During the last quarter of 2016, Univision Radio had total of 10 stations ranked No. 1 in the total week compared to the Spanish language competition in their respective markets: Los Angeles’ KLVE, Miami’s WAMR, Houston’s KLTN, Chicago’s WOJO, Dallas’ KLNO, San Francisco’s KSOL, San Antonio’s KROM, Phoenix’s KHOT, San Diego’s KLNV and Las Vegas’ KISF.
- Univision also ended Q4 with the Top 3 Spanish-language radio stations in Los Angeles (KLVE, KSCA & KRCD) plus the Top 2 Spanish-language radio stations in Chicago (WOJO & WPPN), Dallas (KLNO & KDXX), San Francisco (KSOL & KBRG) and San Diego (KLNV & KLQV).
