World Soccer Talk: Univision Scores Monster TV Ratings for Liga MX Apertura Playoff Games

Univision delivered record-breaking ratings this week for their broadcast of the Liga MX playoff stage of the Apertura 2016 tournament.

Coverage of Liga MX Quarterfinal Round was the most-watched ever on Univision with all key demographics. The Thursday “Súper Clásico” match between Club América and Chivas de Guadalajara on Univision Network, simulcast on Univision Deportes, delivered an average audience of 2.9 million total viewers 2+ and 1.6 million adults 18-49, delivering the largest audience ever, on any network, for a first leg match in a Liga MX Quarterfinal round. Sunday’s airing of the second leg of the “Súper Clásico” match on Univision Network, simulcast on Univision Deportes, delivered an average audience of 3.0 million total viewers 2+ and 1.6 million Adults 18-49.

In the Liga MX Apertura playoffs, six of Mexico’s top professional teams are battling it out to advance to the 2016-17 Liga MX Apertura final.

Additionally, the second leg matchup on Univision Deportes between Tigres and León delivered 875,000 total viewers 2+ and 545,000 adults 18-49.

Coverage of Liga MX playoffs on Univision Deportes made it the No. 2 primetime sports network, regardless of language, last week.

Univision Deportes’ coverage continues this week with the Liga MX Semifinals.

Meanwhile, the viewing number for the MLS game between Toronto FC and Montreal Impact on Wednesday night was watched by 223,000 people on FS1 and 101,000 on FOX Deportes.
