MIAMI – MAY 12, 2016 – With #TBT or Throwback Thursday as the theme for this year’s edition of the “Premios Juventud” (PJ) youth awards, Univision is reliving the best from the past decades with today’s hottest music, TV, film, and sports stars among Hispanic youth.
Top nominee this year is Colombian urban music sensation Maluma, who is in the running for eight awards. Other top contenders with six nominations each are Regional Mexican superstar Luis Coronel and CNCO, the new young Latino super group created during the first season of Univision’s “La Banda” singing competition.
PJ will party with a cool, retro look LIVE from Miami on July 14th, 2016 at 7 p.m. ET/PT (6 p.m. Central) on the Univision Network. This year’s theme was revealed today during a special #TBT morning show on “Despierta América” (“Wake Up America”) and will feature flashbacks through the decades adding a modern twist to celebrate today’s most relevant artists and celebs.
Other top artists who will compete for awards include Anahí and J Balvin with five nominations each, Nicky Jam and Wisin with four, as well as Abraham Mateo, Calibre 50, Farruko, Jennifer López, Justin Bieber, Maite Perroni and Prince Royce, with three apiece.
From the big screen, Antonio Banderas, Arath de la Torre, Fernando Colunga, Frank Perozo, and Jorge Pabón will fight it out for ‘best actor’, while actresses vying for “the one who steals the show” are Eva Mendes, Jennifer López, Kate del Castillo, Maite Perroni and Sofía Vergara.
From the world of TV, telenovela stars Ana Brenda Contreras, Livia Brito, Maite Perroni, Marjorie de Sousa and Zuria Vega are up for favorite lead actress, while Arath de la Torre, David Zepeda, Fernando Colunga, José Ron and Sergio Goyri are nominated in the lead actor category.
Sports figures in the running for “Most Electrifying Athlete” are Carlos Correa, James Rodríguez, Javier “Chicharito” Hernández, Javier Prieto and Lionel Messi.
In addition to other exciting categories such as “Favorite Hit Maker,” “Heart-Wrenching Song” and “Red Hot Artist,” awards will be handed out this year in five new categories for fans to choose their favorite next artist; under Music, the “Producers’ Choice Award” and, under Social Media category, “My Favorite Twitter Celebrity,” “Six Seconds of Fame,” “From Cover to Cover” and “My Favorite Fan Army” giving fans the opportunity to vote for their favorite social media celebrities and artist fan club.
All nominees announced were selected by the fans on PremiosJuventud.com during the period of March 15, 2016 to March 29, 2016.
Fans will continue to pick their favorites for the 13th edition of Univision’s popular annual awards ceremony via PremiosJuventud.com. They can vote for their favorites through Thursday, June 2 at 11:59 PM ET on PremiosJuventud.com. Winners will be announced during the “Premios Juventud” live broadcast on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at 7 p.m. ET/PT (6 p.m. Central) and via PremiosJuventud.com.

El colombiano Maluma, sensación del reggaetón, tiene el mayor número de nominaciones este año compitiendo por ocho premios. Otros artistas destacados, con seis nominaciones cada uno, son la superestrella de la música regional mexicana Luis Coronel y CNCO, el nuevo supergrupo de jóvenes latinos creado durante la primera temporada de la competencia de canto “La Banda” de Univision.
PJ celebrará con un divertido look retro EN VIVO desde Miami el 14 de julio de 2016 a las 7 p.m. Este/Pacífico (6 p.m. Centro) en la Cadena Univision.
