Winner will be Awarded with $50,000 and Runner-Up with $25,000
MIAMI, FL – APRIL 8, 2015 – Univision Communications Inc., the leading media company serving Hispanic America, today will begin accepting applications for the “Premios Juventud” (Youth Awards) scholarship, presented by Dr Pepper. The two winners will be selected for the scholarship based on academic achievement, financial need and an essay submission. One student will be honored with $50,000 and the runner-up with $25,000, sponsored by Dr Pepper. Applicants must be high school seniors of Hispanic heritage pursuing a higher education. Applications must be postmarked by May 15, 2015. The winners of the scholarship will be announced live on-air during Univision’s 12th annual “Premios Juventud” show on Thursday, July 16.

The two “Premios Juventud” scholarship finalists will fly to Miami to attend the awards show, which will be broadcast live from the BankUnited Center at the University of Miami starting at 8 p.m. ET/PT (7 p.m. Central). Viewers will get to know both students through brief vignettes featuring their personal stories and academic successes that will air before the winner is announced.
To be eligible to apply for the “Premios Juventud” scholarship presented by Dr Pepper, students must:
- Currently be in their senior year of high school with enough credits to graduate in spring 2015
- Have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 or higher based on a 4.0 scale
- Already be accepted to attend an accredited college or university, as defined by The Council for Higher Education Accreditation that is based in the continental U.S. or in Puerto Rico to start on fall of 2015
- Be fluent in Spanish
- Reside in the continental United States of America or in Puerto Rico
- Be of Hispanic heritage (see application form for more details)
- Have a valid social security number
- Be either be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident with a valid permanent resident card

The 12th annual “Premios Juventud” will feature a mix of performances and unique award categories in music, film, sports, style and pop culture and is the only awards show on Spanish-language television that celebrates the preferences of Hispanic youth. The 2014 three-hour broadcast of “Premios Juventud” reached 8.8 million Total Viewers 2+ who tuned in to all or part of the three hour broadcast and positioned Univision as the No. 1 broadcast network among Adults 18-49 for the second consecutive year, out delivering ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX. The Network also finished in first place for the entire night among the younger 18-34 and 12-34 viewers for the seventh consecutive year.

SE COMENZARÁ A ACEPTAR SOLICITUDES EL 8 DE ABRIL PARA LAS BECAS DE LA 12º EDICIÓN ANUAL DE “PREMIOS JUVENTUD”, OFRECIDAS POR DR PEPPER
Se otorgará 50 mil dólares al ganador y 25 mil dólares al semifinalista
MIAMI, FL – 8 DE ABRIL DE 2015 – Univision Communications Inc., la principal empresa de medios de comunicación al servicio de la comunidad hispana en los Estados Unidos, comenzará a aceptar hoy solicitudes para la beca de “Premios Juventud”, otorgada por Dr Pepper. Se seleccionará a los dos ganadores de la beca en base a desempeño académico, necesidad económica y un ensayo escrito que deben presentar. Un estudiante recibirá 50 mil dólares, y el semifinalista, $25 mil dólares, gracias al auspicio de Dr Pepper. Los solicitantes deben ser estudiantes de origen hispano en el último año de secundaria que planean cursar estudios postsecundarios. Se deben franquear las solicitudes el 15 de mayo de 2015, a más tardar. Se anunciarán los ganadores de las becas durante la trasmisión en vivo del duodécimo programa anual de “Premios Juventud” de Univision el jueves, 16 de julio.

Los dos finalistas a las becas de “Premios Juventud” viajarán a Miami para asistir a la ceremonia de premiación, que se trasmitirá en vivo desde el BankUnited Center en la University of Miami a partir de las 8 p.m. hora del Este/Pacífico (7 p.m. Centro). Los televidentes llegarán a conocer a ambos estudiantes gracias a breves reseñas sobre su historia personal y logros académicos, que se trasmitirán antes de que se anuncie al ganador.
Para reunir los requisitos para solicitar las becas de “Premios Juventud” otorgadas por Dr Pepper, los estudiantes deben:
- Estar estudiando el último año de secundaria con suficientes créditos para graduarse tras el semestre de primavera de 2015
- Tener un promedio cumulativo de calificaciones (grade point average o GPA) de 3.5 o más en una escala de 4.0
- Estar aceptados para estudiar en una universidad o institución de enseñanza superior (college) acreditada, según lo define The Council for Higher Education Accreditation, ubicada en Estados Unidos continental o Puerto Rico, para iniciar sus estudios en el otoño de 2015
- Dominar el español
- Vivir en Estados Unidos continental o Puerto Rico

- Tener un número válido de Seguro Social
- Ser, ya sea, ciudadanos o residentes permanentes legales de Estados Unidos con una tarjeta válida de residente permanente

La 12º versión anual de “Premios Juventud” presentará una combinación de actos y categorías únicas de premios en música, cine, deportes, estilo y cultura popular, y es el único programa de premiación en la televisión en español que celebra las preferencias de los jóvenes hispanos. La trasmisión de tres horas de “Premios Juventud” en 2014 tuvo una audiencia de 8.8 millones de Televidentes Totales 2+, quienes sintonizaron toda o parte del programa de tres horas y posicionaron a Univision como la cadena de señal abierta de mayor sintonía entre Adultos 18-49 por segundo año consecutivo, superando a ABC, CBS, NBC y FOX.
