MIAMI – MARCH 4, 2014 – To kick off the start of the Univision Deportes 100 day countdown to the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™, Univision Communications Inc released “Tu Mundial Está Con Univision” (Your World Cup Home is Univision) – (To watch the promo click here.) With the most extensive array of programming, coverage, analysis, technology offerings and digital resources in the Company’s history, Univision is leveraging its sports, news and entertainment platforms for the next 100 days leading up to and during the 31 days of the World Cup. Univision Network, UniMás, Galavisión, Univision Deportes Network (UDN), UVideos, Univision.com and Univision’s social platforms will deliver an unprecedented, totally fan-focused experience.

Univision’s coverage of the World Cup tournament includes the live broadcast of all 64 matches as well as live pre and post game coverage from 12 cities in Brazil delivering 24-hours of World Cup for 31 days across all platforms.

Former international soccer athletes Marcelo Balboa, Mauro Camoranesi, Ramón Ramírez and Hristo Stoichkov will join the Univision Deportes team, including Alejandro Berry, Jesús Bracamontes, Jorge Calvo, Lindsay Casinelli, Félix Fernández, Fernando Fiore, Ivan Kasanzew, Edgar Martínez, Pablo Ramírez and Luis Omar Tapia, among others.

In the next 100 days leading up to the tournament, Univision will leverage all platforms across entertainment, news, sports, and local broadcast TV and radio to deliver content focusing on the sports news, history, culture, fashion, food, events, and social aspects of the World Cup.  This comprehensive programming approach will include a countdown of the 100 best goals in soccer history, engaging human interest stories on the history of the tournament, and interesting integrations leveraging talent as well as a sweepstakes giving one lucky viewer a chance to win a trip to Miami to tour the Univision studios and see the World Cup trophy.

UDN will also present a series entitled “Leyendas del Mundial” — 100 hour-long condensed classic soccer matches from every World Cup that will take viewers on a walk through the World Cup’s glorious past.  Each week, Monday through Friday, will be dedicated to a past World Cup, starting today with the 1966 tournament in England, and culminating every Sunday night with the airing of the official FIFA Films documentary from that World Cup. In addition, 100 A-Z of World Cup vignettes and short clips covering every pivotal moment, play, and memory of past World Cups will air across networks and on digital.

Univision Deportes is enhancing the viewer experience by delivering a complete Augmented Reality graphics experience for its regular sports coverage – a first for soccer coverage in the U.S. The technology will be unveiled on-air during the Mexico-Nigeria match airing on March 5th on UniMás.
